The March of Dimes in Greater KansasThe March of Dimes Kansas Chapter has three division offices: the Kansas City Division, located in Overland Park, KS; Topeka, KS Division and Wichita, KS Division.
Funds raised at Bikers for Babies, March for Babies, Wine Fest and other fundraising events support local programs and organizations that focus on maternal and infant health. Most notable among those programs are the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Family Support Projects, which bring comfort and information to families whose baby is born too soon or has other medical issues that will extend their time at the hospital.
Saint Luke's Hospital in Kansas City offers support to 400 families each year. In 2009, the NICU Family Support programs expanded to Overland Park Regional Medical Center and Stormont-Vail HealthCare in Topeka. The Greater Kansas Chapter is the first March of Dimes chapter with three NICU Family Support hospital locations.
Since 2000, the March of Dimes has awarded $1.8 million to the Greater Kansas Chapter region for scientific research at Children's Mercy Hospital, Stowers Institute, SIDS Resources, and several other critical research efforts to help save babies' lives.
